I just spent 5 nights at Red Rocks Campground outside of Las Vegas. It was a good mix of desert camping and family time. We all grew up in Vegas, and none of my siblings even knew there was a campground out there! It was pretty simple – no hookups – but it was clean and well maintained and I felt comfortable and safe.

For my dancing friends, I finally found a place!

Great dance floor, but the night was kind of a bust. Adriana, Lupita and I had fun with the dance lessons, but there was nobody to actually dance with. Suggestion – if you go, bring a dance partner!

I am now in the Zion area with a bunch of SOB people – the family I have chosen! Patti & Doug are from Denver and it was a complete coincidence that they were here.

I was going to stay at Kim and Brent’s, and will definitely make it up there, but Pennie and Jeff were awesome enough to let me park at their place. These people hardly even know me and they welcomed me with open arms. That’s just how SOB works. Here’s the gang

We went to the Bit & Spur. What a fun night! Great food, great people, and a fantastic band! I think it was called Juniper Stars or something like that. Thanks for dancing with me Patti and thanks to Pennie and Doug for being our sherpas while we were on the dance floor. If you are ever in Springdale, UT you have to go to the Bit & Spur – a bar in a majestic setting with delicious food. Oh, and Patti met Cliff today – I’m sure she was impressed with him. LOL

I plan on getting some hiking and volleyball in while I’m here and it sounds like more SOBers might be coming too, so I’m sure there will be some stories to tell.

Tip of the day: If you are going to stay in a ‘rustic’ campground like Red Rocks, make sure your generator is in good working order since there is no other way to work or make your coffee, AND when you have to put gas in it, DON’T put the nozzle all the way in the generator. Hold it just inside the opening so you can see gas going in and when it is almost full shut it off. I obviously didn’t do this and gas splashed back all over me! Yuck!
