I have never spent much time in Georgia. It is a Bee-yoo-ti-ful state!!! Dave (from the last post) lived here for 20 years, so he gave me some tips.
For those of you who have been following this blog, you may remember that I have been to Atlanta already, and I told Cliff to NEVER have me drive through Atlanta again! Well, he blew it, and we missed the ‘Bypass 285’ turn off and ended up in Atlanta traffic AGAIN! It’s ridiculous! 7 lanes and there is traffic all day long! Thank goodness it wasn’t rush hour!
I was on my way to Forsyth, GA. Dave asked me why in the world I would spend two nights in Forsyth …… this is why

Who would’ve thought I’d find this in Forsyth? High Falls – worth a stop if your in the area and it has some nice walking trails. How can you go wrong with

Extremely tranquil – all I could hear was birds, and Spring is springing everywhere!

Don’t ask. I just thought the little fern was cute. Oh, and I forgot to mention that these are the best smelling trails I have ever walked on!!! I learn what Wisteria is (and how to use Google Lens to figure out what plant I’m looking at – proud of your old mama Shyla?)

A crazy, invasive, beautiful smelling vine all over the place. I do have one recommendation about Forsyth. I would strongly suggest NOT staying at the KOA Journey Forsyth. My campsite was right across the street (about 30 yards) from a major highway. It was so noisy! Thank God for good ear plugs! I walked the whole campground and you really can’t get away from the noise. Julie at the front desk was nice though. I am getting away from staying at KOAs.
Side note: for those of you who live in Colorado and Las Vegas where Costco gas lines are a way of life, I have now been to Costco in Louisiana, Georgia and Alabama and NO GAS LINES! It’s crazy but here’s proof

Back on track. Coming up next …. Pollen attack! By the time I got to Kennesaw, my black car and the camper were completely yellow! I got back to ‘normal’ (although everything was yellow) camping at McKinney Campground along the Etowah River which didn’t escape the pollen either.

I had some visitors

Believe it or not, I’ve been through half this country and have seen very little wildlife … oh wait, I forgot about alligators.

That’s the Etowah in the background. For my family people who love to fish – fantastic fishing opportunities in Georgia! Thumbs up for McKinney Campground! Nice woodsy campsites, beautiful river, nice people, clean showers, and excellent hiking at Red Top Mountain. FYI – It seems everywhere you go in Georgia, they require a $5 parking pass.
If you are following my Georgia route, these are just stopovers. I have an actual destination in mind, and it should be fun! Well at least for me. You’ll have another blog soon!
By the way, if you ever want to know where I am currently, ask John (or Elaine). He pointed out to me today that you have no idea where I am because all of this stuff in the blog is in the past. That is intentional, and you can blame Brennan. He told me to never tell anyone where I am because someone could stalk me! HAHA! I’m not worried about that, but it does give me an excuse to fall behind in my blogs 😉
Tip of the day: When you are hiking near a waterfall and want to take a picture, make sure to set your water bottle on a flat surface. Yep, almost lost it.
