I feel like I am way behind because I have been all over the Northeast, but I guess it’s only been a couple of weeks. You may have realized that this blog is my way of keeping in touch with all of you, but it has also become a journal and photo album for me, so this post will probably be more pictures than words.
I am 3/4 on my way to completing my ‘4 corners of America’ mission. Maine – check! On the way, I had a great stop in Chatham, NY. By the way, NY has some GREAT rest areas including playgrounds, dog parks, stores, cafes AND waterless toilets!!! Who would’ve thought that would be a thing?!
I stayed on a farm in Chatham, and caught up with a good friend

Melanie lived with me and paid her rent with Acupuncture – a fantastic treatment for aches, allergies, and any type of grounding you may need. She did this community event, which was pretty cool, but I loved my private session the next day even better. She treats me for allergies and I haven’t had a major attack of seasonal allergies in years! We had a fun reunion, with one sad side – she hit a deer along the road. I couldn’t leave it in the middle of the road, so I dragged it off to the side. I don’t think I have ever touched a wild animal before – it was odd.
Here’s the farm where her friends raise sheep and have a bunch of chickens. They also make and sell delicious, unique jams, mustards, chutneys, sauces, etc. with farm fresh ingredients. I highly recommend checking out the website bethsfarmkitchen.com YUM!

On to Maine. It was rainy and windy, but I can’t even come close to showing you how pretty it is in a rugged, wild sort of way.
I stayed in a campground on the Schoodic Peninsula and planned to take a ferry to Bar Harbor, but that was cancelled due to rain, so I explored where I was and I’m glad I did!

I call these ‘Reflections in the Mist’

Those of you who know me know that I will talk to just about anyone, and that’s how I met Jeanne and her husband (Tom?) at the visitor center. Great conversation and they gave me an exciting idea for my future! If it all pans out, I will share at the end of this journey…… or will the journey continue? Hmmmmm…….
Jeanne sent me to Bunkers, a local bar, for lobster.

A very ‘Maine-like’ view and the lobster looks incredible, right? It was intimidating! I had no idea how to even start eating it! The waitress told me to ask help from the Lobster guys sitting at the bar behind me, but I was too proud and tackled it myself. After three trips to the bathroom to wash my hands and about an hour later (cold lobster)

I succeeded, but I’m sticking with just the tails from now on. I did enjoy sitting in the bar and listening to the locals with their Maine accents. That was cool.
The next day I drove to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This deserves a picture dump

The bench picture is me trying to be artsy. I can imagine sitting here looking over that crazy ocean and contemplating whatever. They actually had one sandy beach – no volleyball though.

These colorful rocks were all over the beaches, but don’t take them! You’ll get busted. I took a rainy hike to Bubble Rock

Going up – I seem to always find stairs

Going down the other side. Believe it or not, there IS a trail here – kind of. It was a bit hairy especially on the wet rocks.

Bubble Rock – I took the same angle picture and didn’t realize it until just now when I put them side by side. Huh.
Everyone said I had to go to Cadillac Mountain, so I made a reservation (timed entry) and paid the $6 to drive to the top. Take the trip if you are there (I made the reservation 10 minutes before driving to the entrance), but here’s a sneak peak.

Maine seems like a long time ago, but I loved my 3 days there! I’ll try to write soon to catch you up. At the moment, I am sitting in a beautiful, quaint coffee shop in Dubois, PA. Deja Brew just opened – super friendly, strong wifi, and delicious endless coffee. Stop by if you are in the area!
Tip of the Day: Many of you know that I am not a ‘Research’ person. I have people who help me out with that (thank you Elaine and Shyla – you rock!), but I do know it would be wise for me to take this responsibility on more often. For example, Schoodic Woods campground was terrific, BUT no showers, so yes, I went about 5 days without a shower (thank goodness it was cold!). Also, take a tutorial on eating a full lobster before trying to tackle it – you will save on mess, not look so silly, AND eat warm lobster. Do research!
