Water Everywhere!

I have NO notes for this blog, so this is strictly from memory. I must’ve been having too much fun to write anything down!

SOB comes through again! There are actually beach volleyball players in Buffalo, NY, so I just HAD to stop by. On the way, I stayed at two different Harvest Host locations in New Hampshire and Vermont. It was very pretty there – I wish I had planned for some time to explore, but I just blew on through. I did take a couple of pics

NH on the left and Lake Champlain in VT on the right. You will see that there is a common theme in this blog – water.

This is the Buffalo gang

Let’s see, there’s Kevin, Jeff and Laura, then Cousin Rob and Cousin Kev, and yes, we were playing volleyball on the beach in Buffalo – I wouldn’t have imagined that was even possible!

Kevin hooked me up with two free nights at a beautiful hotel/casino. It felt like first class having a bed, bathroom AND shower all in one place! That’s not all! The hotel was only a 15 minute walk to the American side of Niagara Falls and only 20 minutes to cross over into Canada (on foot). Yep! I did both, so here is the proof:

The next morning before work, I took a walk to Canada. It was totally cool to be able to do that! I thought the view was a bit better from that side, but it was a little cloudy.

That is the bridge between countries that I walked over and that is the view from the middle of the bridge.

Look closely at this sign – I’ll keep it bigger for you:

75,000 GALLONS PER SECOND going over these falls!!!! From what I understand, that FRESH (not saltwater) water eventually ends up in the ocean – What a WASTE! The West is drying up. The Colorado River is smaller than most of the ‘cricks’ I cross over out here. We need a water pipeline! LOL Seriously though, is that a horrible, not eco-friendly, thing to say, or is it a good idea? Hmmmm

I think Kevin and the gang were trying to make Buffalo my best stop yet. Kevin was awesome and it was great to get to know Jeff & Laura better – they were so kind and generous, even giving me a place to camp, do laundry and take a shower for my last evening

This is Kav (long A sound), Jeff’s beach volleyball facility. Great courts with fantastic sand! So much fun – they almost had me convinced to come back the next weekend, but alas, I couldn’t

Buffalo Boys (and Laura 🙂 Thanks for everything!!!! I hope to see you out on the courts again soon!

Tip of the Day: Walking to Canada was very cool, but I had to pay a ‘Walking Toll’ to get back to America. Here’s my tip – make sure you have 4 American quarters OR 5 Canadian quarters, because 3 American and 1 Canadian will NOT open the gates for you. Trust me, I tried, then I had to put $5 in the change machine (because it didn’t take singles) to get enough American quarters to get back. Well, I guess I have some laundry money now.
