The Narrows

Today was a packed day. Hiking The Narrows, lunch with our sweet Zion hosts, Jeff and Penny, travel to Escalante and setting up our home for the next four nights.

The Narrows didn’t disappoint. We had about a 1 mile walk to beginning of The Narrows. Most of the journey up The Narrows is walking in the water filled with sand and rocks.

Diana and I loved to take the path less traveled and break away from the crowd. We found some great places to capture a good canyon shot and found a sweet couple that was more than happy to capture our fun.

This one gives you a view of how high up the canyon walls go. So many colors and textures in the walls.

Of course we had to capture a photo of us actually in the water. We definitely had a water aerobics workout today.

We walked over 2 hours in the water and decided it was time to head back to the bus to catch our ride down the mountain. Our shoes were so heavy from the water and sand we collected in our shoes that it felt like I was walking in bricks.

We enjoyed an amazing lunch with Jeff and Penny at Oscar’s where they were treated like royalty. They have lived there over 30 years and know everyone in the area so we got amazing service. And a complimentary carrot cake that was “to die for”.

It was time for us to say goodbye and head to our next destination in Escalante. We traveled through Bryce Canyon and captured a few shots at the scenic views.

We stopped here and there to stretch our legs and visit and old friend. Diana even gave Smokey a lil’ kiss.

We arrived at our home for the next 4 nights and began setting up camp. It’s surprising how quickly you can get it done when you team up. Home Sweet Home!

Ending the day with some salmon cooked by Chef Diana. It was so yummy. And relaxing under the stars with some country music on the speaker.

Tip of the Day: Keep your socks and shoes dry and sand free. When hiking The Narrows you are better off wearing Tevas. They are a treaded sandal/water shoe that are perfect for that type of hike.
