Our Journey to Moab

We woke up early today to get a head start on our drive to Moab where we will be camping for the next two nights. Diana is so dedicated. She wakes up every morning before 6am and works until she has everything done and can go out to play. Well today she was able to finish much earlier so we could hit the road. Of course, we had to visit our favorite koffeehouse in Escalante for the third time in two days…Kiva Koffeehouse. And our favorite barista was working again and made use some very delicious Americanos.

We took our koffee and breakfast burrito “to go” and went on our way. If you are ever in Escalante please continue east on Hwy 12 about 15 miles outside of Escalante and visit Kiva Koffeehouse, You will love it.

We had some beautiful scenery along the way. We went from red rocks to sandy rocks to douglas firs and aspens, cows roaming free and we even saw a buck and a doe. Utah has so much to offer,

We went through the Capitol Reef National Park and saw Chimney Rock. Took a few pictures of all the beauty around us.

We arrived in Moab and set up camp around 3pm. Two crazy women destined for a hike can set up their campsite “lickity-split”. We set out for Potash Road and the Corona Arch in Canyonlands. Potash Road is lined with red cliffs on one side and the Colorado River on the other. It is a sight to see.

Next was our hike to the Corona Arch. The trail was marked well so “ta daa” we didn’t get lost on our way. LOL! It was a short hike (1.5 miles). We enjoyed lots of mountains, traversed over train tracks, climbed a cliff while holding onto chains and even climbed a ladder to get to the Bowtie Arch and the Corona Arch.

We were so surprised to see that right next to the Corona Arch was the Bowtie Arch. A bonus arch! Whoohoo! It looks more like a hole in a rock than an arch, but who am I to argue?

The Corona Arch is absolutely huge. There are a couple pictures of Diana and then me under the arch and we look like ants.

We made our way back to the Jeep and sped back into town in search of matching tank tops. We couldn’t find anything. We have decided that Moab doesn’t like women very much. Maybe tomorrow will bring better luck in our hunt for the perfect touristy tank.

No tips today. Everything went smoothly and we are tired and ready to hit the Arches tomorrow. Good night my friends!
